Program Overview
The Conacher Hockey Introduction to Body Checking program is designed to safely and confidently prepare players for the physical side of the game.
This program focuses on teaching proper body checking techniques, angling, positioning, and contact awareness in a controlled and supportive environment. Our goal is to help players understand how and when to engage physically — while prioritizing safety, respect, and confidence.
By building a strong foundation, players will be better prepared to transition into full-contact hockey with reduced risk of injury and increased on-ice confidence.
What Players Will Learn
• Proper body checking technique and posture
• Angling and steering opponents effectively
• Contact confidence and balance
• How to give and receive contact safely
• Awareness along the boards and in open ice
• Rules, responsibilities, and respect when playing contact hockey
