Meet the Head Coach & General Manager Colin Sharman.

Coach Colin Sharman has a lengthy track record of coaching hockey with over 15 years’ experience, including co-founding a multi-championship hockey club in the top divisions of the ORHL and NAPHL Prep from 2016-2026; as well as serving as a prominent Board member in several hockey organizations.  He’s coached U13 through U18 over those years, winning 3 league Championships as a Head Coach and most recently guiding the U15 Chill Hockey team to a 2nd place finish in the Tier I division of the North American Prep Hockey League.  As a co-founding leader in the overall Chill Hockey club, he designed both on-ice and off-ice development programs and systems that led to a collective 12 league Championships during its run.

Coach Sharman’s approach to developing players is centered around a foundation of hard work, respect and structure – both on and off the ice.  Ice times are split with a primary focus on individual skills and team skills, then branched into team systems and “Hockey IQ” with off-ice handbooks and classroom sessions.  He’s successfully played a role in developing elite athletes over his coaching career, helping them achieve success in numerous sports.  Coach Sharman is proud to have alumni players in NCAA & Junior Hockey, but also NCAA Basketball, Lacrosse, Golf and Soccer, as well as U Sports Football in Canada.

Coach Sharman instills a culture of teamwork and accountability, and ensures his players hold themselves to a high standard.  Through the foundations outlined above, he creates a winning environment without focusing on the “scoreboard”.  Effort, attitude and playing “the system” weigh far more heavily than blowout wins on a scoreboard.  Through this focus, it fosters an environment where success is the result.

He’s looking forward to continued success with the Blyth U16 program in 2026-27.
